Author Reflection

Some stories are lived too closely to be seen from the outside.

You tell me the story. I spend time with the details. Then I write back what I see.

An Author Reflection is an original piece of writing created specifically from the memories, photographs, ordinary details, relationships, work, loss, or season of life you share with me.

AUTHOR REFLECTION

“The details may have arrived one at a time. Meaning becomes visible when they are finally placed beside one another.”
George

Written for one person from one body of evidence.

Recognition—not a form letter

You bring the details.
George looks for what they reveal.

It is not a summary of your answers, a biography, therapy, or generic encouragement. George reads the details together and looks for the connections that can be difficult to see while you are living inside the story.

The finished Reflection should be so particular to this life or relationship that changing the names would not allow it to belong to somebody else.

Facts are evidence. Meaning is the work.

Two applications. One method.

What would you like your Author Reflection to be about?

The subject changes. The evidence changes. The attention and writing standard do not.

Learning to Heal Through the Dogs Who Loved Us beside a river

Dog / Human-Animal

A relationship that deserves to be seen as a whole.

For a dog who has died, a dog still beside you, or a relationship you want to understand and preserve while you are still living inside it.

When there has been a loss, George asks about the final day because grief can make one day louder than all the years before it. The Reflection does not erase the ending. It restores proportion.

The Light I Had to Fight For by George Dewiliby

Human / Life

A life you may have been too busy living to see from the outside.

For a career, retirement, caregiving, healthcare work, parenthood, a changing relationship, grief, invisible responsibility, or another important transition.

The Reflection does not diagnose you or tell you what to do next. It pays attention to what your own life has already been saying.

How it works

A simple process around deeply individual work.

1

You share the evidence.

Use a private questionnaire to share memories, ordinary details, important experiences, and one photograph that means something to you. Save your answers and return when you are ready.

2

George spends time with it.

He reads what you share, studies the photograph when one is provided, and looks for patterns and connections that may be difficult to see from inside the story.

3

George writes your Reflection.

The finished work is written specifically from your evidence. It is often several pages and may be longer when the story requires it.

4

You receive something worth keeping.

Your professionally formatted PDF is delivered by email. With a signed book, a printed copy is also personally signed and included in the package.

The private questionnaire

Tell George about the dog and the life you shared.

You do not need to write a polished story. Honest, specific details are more useful than perfect language. The private page can be saved so you can gather your thoughts and return.

An example of an Author Reflection

The customer brings the facts. The Reflection discovers what they mean together.

Emily shared that Tucker waited at the front window every afternoon for her daughter’s school bus. Years later, after her daughter had grown and moved away, Tucker still returned to that window.

The Reflection does not merely repeat the routine. It looks across the years and recognizes what Tucker’s waiting had come to hold.

EMILY AND TUCKER

“Tucker was not only present during Sophie’s childhood. He was one of the few living participants who remained in the house after that childhood ended.”
For most of Tucker’s life, 3:20 meant someone was coming home.

That is the difference between repeating a detail and discovering what the detail has been saying all along.

“It felt like you had known me for a lifetime, and really ‘saw’ me.”

“Your words meant the world to me; it was an affirmation of a life spent caring for others. I read the note several times, and I thank you for taking the time to write it.”
