About the author
Author. Cardiovascular professional. Pet-loss grief educator.
George Dewiliby is an author and cardiovascular professional whose work on animal bereavement is informed by completing Animal Related Bereavement: How to Support Broken Hearts through the University of Tennessee College of Social Work’s Veterinary Social Work Certificate Program. He has worked in cardiac catheterization laboratories since 1997, alongside patients, families, and care teams.
His path into pet-loss grief education is also personal. George and his family loved and lost their Labrador, Wilson—and learned how many questions, memories, and feelings can remain after a companion animal dies. That experience, together with conversations with veterinary clinics, informs Learning to Heal Through the Dogs Who Loved Us, a book honoring the bonds shared by dogs and the people who love them.
George also wrote The Light I Had to Fight For, drawing on the human side of healthcare and the private weight people carry. His forthcoming book, The Life Nobody Sees, explores the hidden experiences that shape who we become. Across his work, he aims to offer recognition, language, and thoughtful support to people navigating loss and life’s unseen demands.
